(TLDR: After a Moist cap gank, some Moist pilots are salty, but payback will need to wait.)
That title!
A few
weeks ago one of our scouts found a wormhole owned and operated by Moist. A fairly large alliance with a relatively
active kill board but with a propensity for running capital escalations in
their home. The scout stayed and watched them for a consistent behavior of
running escalations with little sub cap support and was not disappointed.
Fast forward to us connecting to them again during their
site running time in the normal rolling and scanning of our chain. We formed up
and prepared to jump their fleet. Well our targets were not easily ganked, they
had crit all the wormholes connected to them, so the quickly conceived plan was
for a small group of interdictors and guardians to jump the cap fleet, keep
them there till the main fleet arrived from a newly rolled hole.
Well it went to shit. Their Loki pilots were spot on and
vaporized our interdictors before they could escape their own bubbles. Kudos to
them.
The interesting thing was the smug shit talking that occurred
after our failed gank. I wasn’t a part of this convo and only heard it second
hand, but the joke in TS was them asking in a condescending way “What was that
plan, lol” I’m sure I’m misquoting it, but it made us all laugh. It was a dumb
plan, but god damn it we tried and that should be respected.
This spurred a renewed vigor to move in a T3/Dread fleet and
log off.
The next time they ran home sites, this happened.

They could have had a chance if their loki didn’t warp off
and save himself. Or if all their dreads actually went into siege during the
fight. Different things could have happened that could have changed that
outcome. That gank was far from one sided.
I think we may have resisted the urge to convo that same guy
and say ‘That was the plan’.. though it would have been funny, it was in poor
taste and we have a greater level of respect for our targets than that.
Well we patted ourselves on the back and went home, leaving
a dread logged off in their system till he could be scouted out at our convenience.
That convenient time never really came around, so the pilot
decided to exit the hole during our prime time in force. We just happened to
have a direct connect to our home 13 jumps from their direct connect. So we
formed up a fleet and started moving through Null sec.
Now normally a 13 jump trip through deep null sec is boring
as hell, we might find 1 guy ratting somewhere, but this trip was filled with
all levels of random. 2 jumps out we came across a small group of battle
cruisers sitting on a gate. Typically we would be all over it, but we had to
rescue a dread so we ignored it. This only made the battle cruisers more
curious and they started chasing us.
Weirder still, a fleet of 5 Fed Navy Comets flown by no
other than Moist themselves passed us on the way to their direct null sec. I
guess they saw us in local at some point and figured out what we were going to
do, so then it became a race to the Moist direct null before they could close
it in our face, further trapping the logged off dread.
On our journey we came across other ships, at one point we
were fighting a Tengu and I might have accidently exploded an unfit hulk that
jumped right into my Gila. https://zkillboard.com/kill/45100305/
The Fed Navy Comets fleet beat us there and we expected to
have a total brawl on the Null as our Moist scout was calling out watch listed
pilot after pilot logging in while we made our way there. This dread rescue
fleet could run into a hell of a fight! Nope. We got there, dread exited, no
response. #sadface
O well, guess we should go. The dread jumped to safety.
But… A lone Astero flown by Moist pilot Ithios, (former
Archon pilot, recently deaded by our cap gank https://zkillboard.com/kill/45028554/
) wasn’t going to let us off that easy. I’m
guessing this guy had reason to be salty so he was following us for some payback.
I can get behind that, good luck bro, bring it.
As we jumped from system to system on our way back Ithios
gave pursuit, but we were one stop ahead of him. We didn’t really care if found
us, we just wanted to blow him up (sensing
a theme here?). We asked one of our home pilots to set up a bubble in line from
one gate to another as ithios followed us. We would be caught in a bubble but
so would Ithios, not only that, but it would be at the exact same distance so
he would be uncloaked by us.
Well, as we took our time waiting for the interdictor trap
to be set up, we got another pilot from Moist following us back to our home. Sergon Echerie
also a former Moros capital pilot from our capital gank https://zkillboard.com/kill/45028460/
--Two very salty peeps looking for some
pay back. I like it! Good stuff, for good stories!
Sadly, Sargon’s
payback would have to wait because we didn’t catch Ithios with the bubble
uncloak trap, we caught Sargon…in his stealth bomber https://zkillboard.com/kill/45100816/ -- a Quick “ggWP” (good game well played) was
said in local. Much respect Sargon,
better luck next time.
Ithios still on the loose, saw our little ruse or was told
by Sargon, we don’t know, but he avoided it entirely and found our direct Null.
But, we weren’t out of tricks yet. So we formed up a gang of interdictors and
waited for him on the direct null connection. Wanting to force his hand and
kill him, we jumped the archon through to put mass on the hole. Ithios would either need to try his luck with
a dash into the hole or miss his chance as we rolled him out.
He tried his luck and lost. https://zkillboard.com/kill/45100940/
Astero – and pod https://zkillboard.com/kill/45100944/ Both relatively empty. Better luck next time
Ithios, nothing personal.
I wanted to ask him, in the same condescending way “So what
was the plan there, lol”? but the urge was resisted.
A few days later, we are talking in coms about the Moist
guys and I guess they are still salty, to the point where a single pilot of
theirs is offering 250million isk for an entrance to our home hole. One of our
directors convoed him and offered to sell him an entrance for 1 billion, he refused.
So if you are connected to Isogen 5, want to make a quick
buck, convo one of these dudes mentioned. You too, could taste from the great Salt
Lick of Content!
Now that's a healthy bit of spaceship pew pew! Nice read and welcome back from confessor carebearing \o/
ReplyDeleteGood job iso5, good write up Spear!
Pashko Morgan @ Rg.P
I wish I'd known about this isk yesterday, you rolled into our staging and we were killing you dudes last night! I could've made even more isk?
ReplyDeleteGG btw. :)
