Short Personal Update, O and T1, T2 construction/invention in wormholes is dumb.

Short Personal Update:

TLDR: What I have been doing, challenges, updates and introspective thoughts

If anyone has been reading blog for a while you may have noticed that what keeps me going in live and in game are personal challenges I set for myself. I set a goal I think I can accomplish and attempt it, simple.  I’m not original in this idea, many people live their lives like this. For the past few weeks my goals out of game have been many and my goals in game have been few. This is why there haven’t been many blog entries recently.

So for in-game stuff this is what I have been up to.

Industrial attempts.

Living in my C2/C2/LS, people for the most part leave me alone. I brought in every single one of my characters under the old SUSU flag. I set up a large Amarr tower with some industrial capabilities. My goal was to see if there was any measurable gain in creating T1, T2, T3 items in a wormhole. With the recent industrial changes I wanted to experience them myself.

I wanted to do it from square one to finish and catalog my progress. I could take time and show charts, graphs and all sorts of other shit, but the last time I did that with the T3 profitability market I got railed. People said my DOC was shit, it may very well have been. It took me a week to create that doc and point the formula at the correct cells with the correct math. In my opinion it was spot fucking on. Sadly google docs and the API pull from EVE central don’t talk well and the formula would fail at multiple locations. Not only that, but there were variables in the math that fucked with my numbers. Example. T3 research skills some how effecting the success chance percentages. This isn’t listed anywhere in game, its just some formula that some people found and posted.  Shit like that annoys the hell out of me. So when I did my T1, T2 tests, I said fuck it and didn’t keep good records.

Honestly if the response to my T3 profitablity findings wasn’t well received, I would be fooling myself to think that the T2 and T1 findings would be any different.

So here they are, summarized.

T1

I constructed ships at first and discovered at best you can make about a 7% profit. AT BEST! Anyone who tells you they make more money than that isn’t selling to a competitive market or is fudging the numbers somewhere.

I constructed some T1 drones, T1 ammo to see if volume sales could impact the bottom line. It didn’t, in fact the margins are even smaller and even in the best market places (mission hubs, Newbie systems) the competition of other sellers and the tiny margins made volume sales a total pain the balls. It’s simply not worth it.

The whole time, making these things I kept the price of the materials in my mind, the time it takes me to move those items to market and update the sell orders from the wormhole platform. I figured out that I could do nearly ANY other activity anywhere and make more money.

Conclusion – If you feel desire to construct T1 objects on a small scale from a wormhole, you are doing it as a hobby, not a profit gaining venture. I’m ok with hobbies, hell I fly fish. I spend hundreds dollars to travel to distant area’s to catch and release fish I could just buy 2 blocks away from my house.

T2

This market is one of the most fucked up in the game. When I say fucked up, I mean the least understood by most and no one seems to care. I went from square one which was T2 invention to outcome. 1st I constructed two ships.  1 Paladin and 1 Vaugur. I invented them, I harvest the materials I could and bought the rest with buy orders in major hubs. Took everything I could into my wormhole and build them. The ME on both of my BPC’s was 8 of 10. Fairly good IMO.

I lost about 10 to 20 million Isk by building the ship and not just selling the materials it took to make them. This isn’t taking into account the price it takes to create the BPC or any cost savings I could have made on the T1 ship it took to create it.

I’m told by some indi friends that I fell into the trap of building ships and not modules. They tell me that ships aren’t profitable.  So I build some mods. Guess what, mods aren’t profitable either. My friends in indi land are either ignoring the meta 4 costs used during BPC research or are thinking the BPC and the facilities used to create them are “free”. I don’t know.

Conclusion – Fun hobby, there is a gratification of building something yourself that happens when you spend so much time acquiring the items, researching them.. whatever.. But it’s a negative isk gain operation, plan and simple. The T2 BPO issue in the game has totally screwed this market place. Anyone who invents a T2 item, has just shot themselves in the foot if they plan on competing with anyone else in the game using a T2 BPO.

Player growth.

I’m calling this player growth because I’m not sure what else to call it. All this solo life and industry numbers chasing has provide me an opportunity for some soul searching. I have 5 accounts and each character is contributing to wealth of me as a player but at the end of the day the activities of all 5 accounts isn’t paying for self if I simply played the game differently.

One idea that I have had is to change my life style in game. Turn off my other 4 accounts and simply buy 4 plex every month. Or use that money to fund my out of game activities, or hell… other game activities.

I don’t think I would ever quit EVE,  I have too much fun but focusing on chasing isk for a month or so now is really depressing me.

New challenges

Before this latest expansion I took a page from the Oklahoma sooners and planted a scout in a C4/C5 Black hole. Not only that, but I put in a Medium tower to stake my claim. Upon patch day I was rewarded with an additional C2!  This makes my 2nd hole a C4/C5/C2 Black hole!  Great right?!  Easy way to get to K-space when I need to and an easy way to tangle with C5 gas and anoms.

But I’m dreading setting up 65 more PI planets across all my accounts. You could say, “just don’t” but that PI cash is sooooo good. If I could tell you how little effort it takes to maintain it after its done and how much money it makes for my accounts each month… uggg.. SOOO much money. 300+ Isk in coolant every 3 or 4 days, and that’s not even me trying hard.

I have some ideas for doing sleepers out of the norm in this Black hole. I made some snipping ravens that (in my black hole) have a cruise missile range of 389k. I can only target to 250k. So my challenge is to try and snipe sleepers. I’m not sure the range a sleeper can shoot or if they can shoot out to 250, but I’m going to find out. As the sleepers approach I would just MJD away from them.

Another challenge is to perfect my marauder skills in both the C4 and the C5. Bastion mode sniping golems.

Options;

I could stop now, turn off 4 accounts and join another corp with an active player base.

I could continue on my solo adventure across 2 wormholes.

I honestly don’t know.

That’s my update.

I love you CCP please respect me in the morning - W-space mechanics changes review

TLDR: I climb on board the CCP KooAid Train and guzzle gallons of the stuff before passing out with each of my dignity holes violated.

And now a completely bias look at the upcoming W-space changes.  This is my personal take on the changes and how they impact my style of game play and what I deem right/wrong in my own tiny little mind. If I upset you with my comments and I rail on your game play style, I guess I’m sorry but not really.

Warning extreme language with immature references to my genitals. If you don’t mind me talking like a 14 year old please read on.

I am so fucking  hard right now! Let me explain why.

Ship Spew Mechanic

CCPs thumb in the eye toward using capitals as a closing tool. GOOD! There I said it. Anything that makings this process harder, more annoying,  I’m all for it.

During my time in EVE I have been a part of large, small and one man corps in wormhole space. One of the things I have always disliked is a tiny group of pilots (less than 10)  harvesting massive isk with little to no threat to their existence. I can’t stand it. I have been a part of it and I have actively fought against that form of wormhole meta.

Who does this change hit hardest? The small gang of capitals/pilots. I got words. Fuck those people.

A small group of players can’t effectively support their capitals being tackled on the other side. Plan and simple. I couldn’t be happier. Any large group of people can defend their ambushed capitals. I was once part of them in the past but I now find the idea of being in a small gang of capital escalation or farming C5/C6 physically revolting.(its all about me right?)

They are flying around in these massive ships for reasons other than using those ships in PVE. My proof? Well, if they actually used those ships in pvp, who fucking cares if they are tackled or not??! See my point?

If it was s a pvp ship, why would you care if that ship actually got into pvp by this new mechanic? It’s because you can’t possibly hope of supporting that ship with 5 fucking pilots.

Fuck small gang, risk adverse capital PVE ships. I know this comment might annoy my readers, but o well. The main threat to this game from day on,e is that a person will think that chasing ISK gain, is the goal of this game. Lets further punish people for chasing ISK!

Let’s talk about the other crying effect.

Large player groups who use rage rolling to find pew. Fuck you guys too! Your version of pew is rolling your C5/C6 static multiple times a night with 4 pilots looking for the random group of capital escalation ships. During that time, the entirety of your alliance or corp is off playing another game, derping in coms and bringing 0 to the hunting process. Once those targets are found, everyone logs in to EVE for 30 minutes of action then logs off and back into Tanks/LoL.  I will tell you without any hesitation that I fucking hate that kind of game play.

You aren’t contributing to anything in game, you aren’t interacting with anyone in game, and you are a bottom feeder for content provided by someone else usually your scouts. I’m ecstatic that this change in mechanic brings them some measurable pain.

Threaten to quit because you can't sit afk in your POS shield while 4 guys rage roll a static for hours on end? Good Fuck off, leave this game to people who actually play it.

So let’s recap!

Fuck people who run escalations in small player numbers! Fuck farming holes! Fuck bitter vets who let a gang of 4 people rage roll every 3 minutes and logging in the game whenever it suits them! Fuck bears who defensively close holes in 2 minutes!

Justification for this hostility and disregard for other peoples play styles? Nope. I’m just being totally selfish in my opinion this time. I have had so many negative instances involving the people this change annoys most, I’m giggling with anticipation.

On to the positive things everyone likes!

Wormhole effect re-balance!

I could care less about tweeks to the existing positive effect holes. The only thing that’s really worth talking about is BLACK HOLES!

Making these something other than the armpit of wormhole space is amazing!

This system does so many things and challenges problems with the meta game in so many ways I feel like the baby Jesus came down and re-gifted me my car keys! O look! A new CAR! FROM JESUS!? YAY! It’s the car I love, but with Jesus like flare! /swoon

O dread blapping doesn’t work so good here? PERFECT! Fuck dread blapping.. Kiting is amazing missiles are amazing! 100mn missile boats wreck face and can’t be stopped…. *ugghh * I think I just wet my pants AGAIN!

Dread blapping webbing T3/Guardian gangs now made total shit because anyone with half a brain can now click orbit at 90  and shoot missiles for days! RAWR it’s a totally new game play. I could kiss you CCP for this.

A second static for Class 4 wormholes

I live in a c2. The last 3 wormholes I have lived in (the one I’m in now too) have had a C2 static. Its not because of the epic loots of C2 space let me tell you. Its entirely because of the pvp and chain length that occurs in this space. Having two statics even if one of them is a shitty K-space brings so many possibilities to pvp and pve alike. The most fun I have ever had in W-space was because of a C2 static.

Now you are telling me, that I can have a C4 with the same effect, but both the exits will be W-space?!?!?  **8*** uggg I just wet myself AGAIN** If you have a C4/C4 right now.. it will open to another C4 with 2 statics too! That’s 3 W-space holes side by side!!!

Each of those will have a hole too, and they won’t end in some shitty K-space dead hardly ever. The only combination that ends the Wspace chain length is a C4 static C3/C1. Both of those statics have Kspace exits. This change to C4’s will make the longest most complex chains in all of EVE wormhole space history!

More chains, more pew, more W-space! *** uggg my heart.. I just wet myself again.. Fozzie you are going to be death of me you stud!**

More randomly spawning wormholes – “One way we intend to reach this goal is to increase the prevalence of random wormhole connections that appear in W-space systems. We will be significantly increasing the spawn rate of all the existing wormholes that originate in W-space” – Fozzie

More wandering wormholes that connect dissimilar potential exits. Sure there will be a static exit.. hell even one more static exits in C4s, but now there will be more holes originating from W-space at our command. And, have those extra holes harder to roll.. This essentially makes my style of game play.. off the mother fucking hook!

New frig/destroyer wormholes that can’t be closed. !!!

– A new platform of destruction that can only be traversed via tiny ships. It can’t be closed by mass it rewards scouts and tiny fun ships. HOLY SHIT!! Its everything I tried to to do in my wormhole as the SUSU CEO. Little ships, little logi, scouts fights.. no fucks given cheap pvp! ARE YOU KIDDING ME?! This is amazing! Wormhole scouting and ship based terrorism unstoppable by anyone who doesn’t fight. This has my game style written all over it. Its all about me MEMEMEMEMEME !! (its not, but honestly you should all really play like me, I have so much fun!)

K162 appearance only on first jump

This might be one of the greatest things ever. Giving no warning to anyone in the game what so ever before I actually enter the system. Virgin holes, flowering for destruction initiated by me alone. I’m not sure I could be happier honestly.

This means my potential targets get only as much warning as I give them by me not able to find them quickly. This rewards aggressive scouts! People who are quick with the D-scan, and for fucks sake. People who hunt, people who are good at it and people like me who think this game isn’t about watching your wallet # rise.

CCP has given us the tools of each other’s undoing and I honestly couldn’t be happier.
Bravo, and sorry about my front mess, I’m just very excited.
